Fox News reporter Charles Krauthammer can be commended for his strong backbone in keeping the mainstream media, Washington politicians and even his own colleagues at Fox News accountable to their promises and to standards. Now Krauthammer has turned his attention to President Donald Trump.
Krauthammer became concerned over the fact that, in his recent interview on Fox News Sunday, with Bill O’Reilly, Trump signaled that the repeal of Obamacare, which was one of Trump’s core campaign promises, would in fact only take place next year. Stated Trump about repealing and replacing Obamacare, “I would like to say by the end of the year, at least the rudiments, but we should have something within the year and the following year.”
Krauthammer saw this as potential hedging on the President’s part, and he decided to call him out on it. Said Charles on Fox News, “Not getting it done is a catastrophe because you ran against it for seven years and you promised you would do it, and that would be the ultimate betrayal of the electorate.”
The noted conservative commentator continued, “One of the reasons of the rise of Donald Trump is because so many conservatives, so many Republicans, said they had been betrayed by their leaders. This would be the ultimate one. So it has to get done.”
He added, however, that whatever the Republicans replace Obamacare needs to be well designed and implemented, since “Republicans are going to own health care the way that Democrats did for seven years.” Speaker of the House Paul Ryan has pledged to make the repeal happen by the end of 2017, saying, “The legislating is going to be done this year. We are going to be done with legislating with respect to Obamacare.” What do you think Trump should do? Watch below:
