Rolling Thunder is a non-profit biker group that fights to remember Prisoners of War-Missing in Action. They ride through Washington, D.C., to remind politicians of our lost soldiers.
Rex Tillerson joined the bikers on their 2017 ride. The Secretary of State was at home with his fellow Americans. He is not too good for us “little people,” despite being one of the most powerful men alive.
Tillerson was happy to participate in the ride. Since being appointed he has not had the time to take his motorcycle out for a spin.
By attending the rally, Tillerson was able to enjoy a joy-ride while raising awareness for a very important cause. He also got to reconnect with his roots. These are the types of interactions with We the People that we encourage from our representatives.
Liberals spurned Tillerson when President Trump first appointed him as Secretary of State. The left hated Tillerson because he was the CEO of an oil company — they claimed he was out of touch. (via Britannica)
Just because he is successful does not mean he is out of touch. Tillerson comes from a humble background and was able to work his way to the top of one of America’s largest companies due to his dedication. Tillerson was originally hired by Exxon in 1975 as a civil engineer. He spent his entire career at Exxon, and rose to lead the company through merit alone.
Tillerson’s father was a Boy Scouts leader, and the Secretary of State has been involved in the Boy Scouts of America his entire life. That’s why Tillerson was right at home at the Rolling Thunder biker rally — he is a dyed-in-the-wool American.
It is also why President Trump tapped Tillerson to run the State Department. Tillerson is not a member of the elite class.
Instead, Tillerson is just a very intelligent and successful engineer who managed to rise to the top of a massive corporation — proving that hard work alone is the key to success in America.
