Is there is no end to liberal hypocrisy and condescension?
Liberals once again are all atwitter — this time over President Trump’s appointment of Deputy Surgeon General Sylvia Trent-Adams to acting Surgeon General of the United States. This meant Dr. Vivek Murthy had to resign.
The mainstream media reaction was underwhelming at best.
“Dr. Vivek Murthy — a Obama appointee — resigns as Surgeon General, replaced by deputy Sylvia Trent-Adams, a nurse,” ABC News reported.
The New York Times ran with this lackluster headline: “Nurse Replaces Surgeon General After Obama Appointee Resigns.”
For once, the media got their facts straight. But the tone of the reporting seems to suggest Trent-Adams is, after all, just a nurse.
“But the word “Surgeon” is in the title. Doesn’t that mean something? Or am I being too literal-minded?” tweeted fakeJenRauls.
No, fakeJenRauls, you’re being too liberal-minded. And that means something.
Danielle Johnson, MD, a black physician, tweeted: “Although Sylvia Trent-Adams is very accomplished, the title of @Surgeon_General indicates physician.”
The implication is Trent-Adams isn’t qualified for the acting position, but there were no issues when she served as duputy.
According to Coausphs News, Rear Admiral Trent-Adams has held senior positions within the HIV/AIDS Bureau of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).
“Before joining the Public Health Service in 1992, RADM Trent-Adams was a nurse officer in the U.S. Army. She has worked at the University of Maryland as a research nurse and interned in the U.S. Senate. RADM Trent-Adams’s clinical practice was in trauma, oncology, community health, and infectious disease. She serves as the Chair of the Federal Public Health Nurse Leadership Council, and the Federal Nursing Service Council.”
None of this will matter to liberals, however, since Trent-Adams isn’t a “doctor.”
Wikileaks adds that the Surgeon General of the United States is “the operational head of the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps (PHSCC) and thus the leading spokesperson on matters of public health in the federal government of the United States.”
The Surgeon General is nominated by the president, confirmed by the Senate, and serves a four-year term, whether the president is re-elected or not.
If Trent-Adams, an African-American whose mom pushed for her to succeed — the very definition of feminist success — had been a Hillary appointee, the ho-hum media coverage would have been anything but.
Trent-Adams is guilty by association with President Trump, so she gets the media’s treatment they feel she deserves.
Please share this on Facebook if the liberal response to the appointment of Sylvia Trent-Adams as acting Surgeon General has been unfair and hypocritical.
