Trey Gowdy Begins Interview Calmly, but Immediately Starts Chucking Lightning Bolts When He’s Asked About Jeff Sessions

There are few politicians sharper than Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC).

A former federal prosecutor with an incredibly quick mind, Gowdy cuts to the heart of the matter instantly.

He calls out the Democrats in this interview when he is asked about Jeff Sessions and the Democrats’ call for a special prosecutor in the Russian probe.

From Daily Caller:

“The reality is Jeff Sessions is not going to be in the courtroom prosecuting this case,” he stated. “If it was good enough for the media for Holder and Lynch, look — it exposes their hypocrisy all of the sudden about Sessions, but did you ever hear the media call for special counsel for President Obama?”

“I feel like I’m watching ‘The Notebook.’ They’ve fallen in love with the special counsel regulation they didn’t know existed a few months ago.”

Gowdy, as always, nails it.

Sessions didn’t have to recuse himself, because there was no impropriety. But as a good attorney, he knows to avoid even the appearance of impropriety. The idea is you don’t even want to give people a question, even if you have done nothing wrong.

This was a principle about which the Obama administration’s attorneys didn’t seem to care. Loretta Lynch should have formally recused herself after her meeting with Bill Clinton, the target of an ongoing investigation, on the tarmac of the Phoenix airport. She did not, simply saying she would ‘defer’ her decision to the FBI director.

Despite all the various scandals and conflicts of the Obama administration, media didn’t call out these conflicts as they should have or call for a special prosecutor.

Yet a month into Trump administration, with no clear conflict or crime, they’re off to the races about Sessions.
