FBI Director James Comey is one of those pitiable figures connected to America’s government who has bungled their job so badly that they’re considered an outcast to both Republicans and Democrats alike. First, he earned Republicans’ scorn by going along with liberal Attorney General Loretta Lynch and letting Hillary Clinton off the hook in her criminal investigation.
Months later, Comey redeemed himself somewhat by reopening the FBI’s investigation days before the election, which drew fire from Democrats as it contributed to Hillary’s surprising election loss. Lately, however, he has become shunned by Republicans once again for saying that his organization believes the election was hacked by Russia for Trump. Comey has certainly earned his universal criticism, and he just got some news that may take him down.
Mike Pence recently appeared on Fox News Sunday, and he was asked if our 45th President Donald Trump is confident about Mike Pence, or if he wants him to get fired. Instead of reassuring Comey that Trump has confidence in him, as would be protocol, Pence merely said, “You’ll have to ask him about that.”
Continued Pence about Comey and his future at the FBI, “I know it’s been a subject of some commentary of this last week, but at the end of the day, I know that, whether it’s our security at home or abroad, that the president-elect is going to put the safety and security of the American people first.”
Pence’s remarks were widely interpreted as a clear sign that Trump intends to fire Comey from his position at the FBI, and replace him with someone with principles whose approach is more in line with Trump’s. Do you think that Donald Trump should fire James Comey?
