A Republican Party office in central North Carolina was firebombed on Saturday night, the state GOP’s executive director said.
Calling the damage to the Orange County Republican Party headquarters a “total loss”, North Carolina Republican Party Executive Director Dallas Woodhouse was relieved that nobody was killed in the incident.
The ATF is currently investigating the overnight incident just off Interstate 85 in Hillsborough, near Durham.
As FoxNews.com reported, a bottle of flammable liquid was tossed through a window and ignited inside, charring stacks of yard signs and destroying furniture.
Graffiti reading “Nazi Republicans, Leave Town Or Else”, along with a swastika, was painted on the side of an adjacent building.
“Whether you are Republican, Democrat, or Independent, all Americans should be outraged by this hate-filled and violent attack against our democracy,” Woodhouse said in a statement.
Hillsborough Mayor Tom Stevens said the “hateful message undermines decency, respect and integrity in civic participation,” according to the Raleigh News & Observer.
