The situation with Obamacare has finally boiled over. President Trump is tired of waiting for something to happen and came out with a STERN message for all of the GOP turncoats.
According to Dennis Michael Lynch, during a Trump-planned lunch with all of the Republican Senators on Wednesday, he said that “they MUST keep their promise to America.” That promise, of course, is that they would repeal and replace Obamacare. He went on to say that, “We should repeal and replace and we shouldn’t leave town until this bill is on my desk.”
Everything fell through Monday when two Senators pulled their votes, guaranteeing that the repeal and replacement of Obamacare would not pass.
Trump has been talking about getting rid of Obamacare since before he was even elected. Many voters were thrilled about the idea. The adverse effects of Obamacare have been felt by Americans throughout the country.
We have wanted this change to occur, and Trump is very much on our side. It is getting the GOP to do their job and follow the will of the American people–not just their agenda–that is proving to be the hard part.
The American people are tired of living under the constraints of Obamacare. In a free society, you cannot force someone to buy a product, especially if that product is health care.
The mandate brings a whole new level of crazy to the law. If you decide that you don’t want to buy coverage to satisfy the government’s mandate, you have to pay a tax that increases every year. Something about that doesn’t seem very constitutional.
Families are losing their insurance at an alarming rate without any notification of their lost coverage. After a few months, these people realize that their insurance lapsed MONTHS prior, and then they have to pay the mandate penalties for not having insurance.
It was win-win for the government, but the American people gained nothing from it. Even the people who ended up getting insurance still could have gotten it cheaper and quicker from OUTSIDE the government apparatus.
Millenial Democrats who believe that “Socialism is the future,” pushed the agenda. Obama saw a way to make a couple of bucks, and, of course, he signed the Affordable Care Act. It is an affront to the people of this country.
Hopefully, Trump’s message to the Republicans sinks in, and they start to get the ball rolling. We would love to see a solution come to light by the end of August, but it is hard to say if that is going to happen. It is important to note that Trump DID urge them to cancel their August recess. He wants to “Hammer this out and get it done.”
You have to admire President Trump for his persistence and sense of urgency when it comes to getting things done.
