Do not expect U.S. Senator John McCain to go quietly into that good political night but to rage against (he hopes) the dying of Donald Trump’s presidential light.
According to True Pundit, White House officials have more than a strong suspicion that the fiery Republican senator from Arizona is behind some of the media leaks directed at Trump’s fragile presidency.
The news site said that McCain became an enabler of this shadowy smear campaign through a network of mainstream media connections used to “disperse anti-Trump information.”
If true, the 80-year-old McCain, chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, wasn’t acting alone. He needed inside help from the intelligence community.
The White House sources believe McCain obtained access to at least one conversation Trump had with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and that he shared this “sensitive information” with the media.
The objective of this “clandestine campaign [is] to damage Trump’s presidency even before it has a chance to succeed,” according to True Pundit.
In recent years McCain appears to have become increasingly unhinged in his apparent zeal to get into a shooting war against Russia.
He recently accused fellow U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) of working for Putin. McCain also claimed, without evidence, that Putin was to blame for Russian separatists who allegedly shot down Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 while flying over eastern Ukraine on July 17, 2014, killing 283 passengers and 15 crew members on board.
McCain’s personal animus against Donald Trump can be traced directly to the president’s desire to work with Putin and to normalize relations with the world’s second largest nuclear power.
In 2011, Putin had this to say about the bucking bronco McCain:
“Mr. McCain fought in Vietnam. I think that he has enough blood of peaceful citizens on his hands. It must be impossible for him to live without these disgusting scenes anymore. Mr. McCain was captured and they kept him not just in prison, but in a pit for several years. Anyone [in his place] would go nuts.”
For a Republican senator to turn against a president from his own party, you have to wonder.
Please share this on Facebook if it is any surprise that Republican Senator John McCain could be at the bottom of anti-Trump leaks to the media.
