There were some fireworks today at the confirmation hearing of Betsy DeVos for Secretary of Education before the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor & Pensions.
During that hearing, Democratic senators tried to ask for a second day of questioning to grill Tom Price, nominee for Secretary of Health and Human Services, and DeVos.
Sen. Tammy Baldwin said that she had many more questions to ask Dr. Price.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) tried to push for a second day of questioning.
Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN), the chair of the committee, let Warren know who was in charge.
He stopped her cold, saying we’re not having a second round tonight.
Moreover, that DeVos had already faced 50% more time than did President Obama’s nominee for Secretary of Education and that she made herself available to any member before that.
Warren doesn’t quite know what to do when she doesn’t get what she wants.
She just sort of sits there looking pouty.
Psst, this is what it looks like when you lose power, dear…
