Texas Senator Ted Cruz is putting America first and supporting the lawful actions of President Donald Trump. Liberal lawmakers should follow suit ASAP!
“After eight long years of a lawless Obama Department of Justice, it is fitting—and sad—that the very last act of the Obama DOJ is for the acting AG to defy the newly elected president, refuse to enforce the law, and force the president to fire her,” Senator Cruz said. See his full statement below…
Ted Cruz’s post about the lawlessness of the Justice Department during the Obama era was spot on. The Texan cut through all of the partisan nonsense when justifying the immediate firing of Acting Attorney General Sally Yates.
Ted Cruz staunchly agreed with President Trump’s decision to fire Sally Yates mere hours after she refused to do her constitutional duty. Yates knew she would be out of a job as soon as Jeff Sessions was approved, so she opted to go out in very public blaze of liberal glory.
Just as the permanent AGs before her, Sally Yates put a partisan agenda ahead of the law. Both Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch were accused of the same divisive and unjust tactics during their terms in office.
No one has forgotten Loretta Lynch’s clandestine meeting with former President Bill Clinton on a tarmac. Just hours later, on a holiday weekend, Hillary Clinton was interviewed by the FBI, sans video or even a written transcript of the meeting, which resulted in zero charges being filed against her for improperly sharing classified emails.
The actions of Sally Yates also clearly illustrate why the Senate needs to act — is bound to act — on President Trump’s nomination for the attorney general post. The country needs a permanent head appointed to the agency, so the Justice Department’s important work can continue uninterrupted.
Senator Cruz also called for the Senate to “confirm Jeff Sessions immediately.” Cruz added, “America needs and deserves an attorney general who will be faithful to the Constitution and uphold the law.”
Democrats vowed earlier today to continue their obstructionist tactics against various Trump nominees. There is no logical reason to delay a vote on Jeff Sessions, except that the Democrats wanted to keep their partisan hack of an AG in office as long as possible. Well, now she’s gone.
We have gone eight long years with a biased, politically active Justice Department. America deserves better — and demanded better when voting for Donald Trump.
