While it is no secret that much of the media is left-leaning and possibly has been for decades, it is only recently that formerly reputable news sources have abandoned all pretext at being objective reporters of the news and adopted a proactive role in actually creating the news.
NBC has proved itself the most egregious of any cable or network news in this regard, with serious violations of ethical conduct seriously damaging its reputation after it doctored audiotape obtained during the George Zimmerman trial to exclude evidence supporting his defense.
Now, the network has been caught sitting on a salacious piece of videotape until its release would do the most damage to Donald Trump’s candidacy.
The clip featured Trump bragging about his conquests to an entertainment TV host and using a vulgar word, and its release just 48 hours before the second presidential debate created a firestorm of distraction that dominated and overshadowed the discussion of the issues, effectively hi-jacking the news cycle in favor of Clinton.
Discussion of the economy, Russian bombing of Aleppo, the terror threat, immigration, crime, racial relations, the national debt or cybersecurity was abandoned in favor of the more sexy and glamorous narrative provided by the tape of Trump using a dirty word in 2005.
Although NBC claimed it waited to air the decade-old “hot mic” tape until it could be properly be reviewed by its attorneys, in fact the network knew about the video and was aware of the negative impact it would have on Trump’s candidacy and not only deliberately held off on airing it until it could do maximum damage.
The purposeful manipulation of the timing of the news shifts NBC from journalism to partisan operating as an arm of the Clinton campaign.
A similar “drop” of negative material occurred 48-hours before the first debate when the New York Times printed three pages of one of Trump’s old tax returns showing legitimate, though little-known or understood deductions.
That release upstaged the news cycle surrounding the first debate just as the videotape did the second.
A report From TMZ states:
The sources say many NBC execs have open disdain for Trump and their plan was to roll out the tape 48 hours before the debate so it would dominate the news cycle leading up to the face-off.
As we reported, Billy Bush was bragging about the tape — in front of NBC execs at the Rio Olympics — in early August. NBC says it’s only known about the tape for a little more than a week.
