Mexican President, Enrique Peña Nieto was scheduled to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump next Tuesday. It would have been their first meeting since Trump became president. Peña Nieto as repeatedly insisted that Mexico has no intention of paying for a wall on the Southern border.
Trump stated –
“The U.S. has a 60 billion dollar trade deficit with Mexico. It has been a one-sided deal from the beginning of NAFTA with massive numbers of jobs and companies lost.“
Trump has been very critical of NAFTA all through his campaign, making promises to Americans about keeping jobs here in America, as well as making border concerns a priority.
Trump followed with threatening to simply cancel the meeting altogether, stating via Twitter –
“If Mexico is unwilling to pay for the badly needed wall, then it would be better to cancel the upcoming meeting.”
Peña Nieto then tweeted in response, (according to an English translation) stating –
“This morning we have informed the White House that I will not attend the meeting scheduled for next Tuesday with the @POTUS.”
Apparently, Peña Nieto is more than a bit too big for his britches.
Immediately after the announcement that Peña Nieto refused to meet with President Trump, the peso came tumbling on down by 1.2% at 21.3175 per dollar as of 11:57 a.m. EST. The currency had been up by as much as 0.8% at 20.9358 per dollar at about 8:50 a.m. EST.
Border agents are ecstatic about President Trump’s plan to end a “catch-and-release” loophole in current border control policy.
Catch-and-release was the policy applied to illegal immigrants under the Obama regime who would come to the U.S. claiming they feared persecution from the country they left.
In turn, the Obama regime would grant these illegals a work permit, allowing them to stay.
Trump’s most recent executive orders on immigration aim to end this policy and will suspend any environmental laws that would slow down construction of his planned wall on the U.S.-Mexican border. A wall that Trump states should begin construction within months.
As news of President Trump’s intentions to follow through with his campaign promise of building a border wall and cracking down on illegal immigration, even liberal fake news CNN has been forced to admit –
“Trump is Doing Exactly What he Said he Would do”
Directly from CNN —
“From frontrunner to nominee, and then from seemingly doomed general election candidate to president-elect, Donald Trump [….] offered a remarkably consistent package of promises.
Now, less than a week into his presidency, he is beginning to carry them out.
On Friday, [President Trump] signed an executive order directing federal agencies to undermine Obamacare. After a weekend spent attacking the media — […..] Trump kicked off Monday by reinstating a federal ban on foreign aid to organizations that include abortion or family planning in their mission statements. TPP is dead. NAFTA is on the ropes.
The wall is next. Wednesday comes with a request for federal funds to build it, though no word on how he’ll compel Mexico to pick up the tab. He told ABC News on Wednesday he hopes to start construction on the wall very quickly, although getting Mexico to pay for it could get ‘complicated.’”
