Singer Taylor Swift just proved We the People do a better job of dealing with a tragedy than the career politicians we pay to run our big government. The young woman with a big heart just made the President of the United States look like a very small and uncaring man.
Taylor Swift just donated $1 million to the flood relief efforts in Louisiana.
President Barack Obama has not even seen fit to address the ongoing tragedy where 11 people have died and hundreds have lost their homes and everything they own.
Obama is playing golf and mugging for the cameras on Martha’s Vineyard while thousands of Americans are suffering and being aided by any volunteer willing to help give them a bottle of water or a dry blanket.
“We began the 1989 World Tour in Louisiana [last year], and the wonderful fans there made us feel completely at home. The fact that so many people in Louisiana have been forced out of their own homes this week is heartbreaking,” Taylor Swift said in a statement after donating the $1 million, Breitbart notes.
More than 30,000 people have been rescued from the Louisiana flooding since last Friday—such efforts are still ongoing.
The flooding is among the worst in the history of the state. At least 40,000 homes have been damaged or destroyed. More than 60,000 have already applied for aid from FEMA.
“I encourage those who can to help out and send your love and prayers their way during this devastating time,” Swift said.
When Hurricane Katrina destroyed a significant portion of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, Democrats skewered President George W. Bush for only doing a flyover to survey the damage.
President George W. Bush was told by Secret Service and security officials it was not yet safe to land in the New Orleans area. The police officers and National Guard members on the ground had their hands full and were still trying to restore order to the region.
