The tides of illegal immigration are starting to slow, but our work is not done yet.
Jeff Sessions, our esteemed Attorney General, is ramping up efforts to end illegal immigration. “For those that continue to seek improper and illegal entry into this country, be forewarned: this is a new era. This is the Trump era,” Sessions said during a visit to Nogales, Arizona. (via Washington Times)
Sessions is asking for federal prosecutors to seek felony charges against illegal aliens who have criminal histories. He is targeting smugglers, aliens with prior criminal convictions, and those who have previously faced deportation and managed to sneak back into our country.
The new era marks an end to the “catch and release” approach utilized by the Obama administration.
The Justice Department is planning on hiring over 125 more immigration judges to help process the backlog of illegal immigrant cases, and to proceed into the numerous new cases coming forward.
Illegal immigration is generally treated as a misdemeanor, but the new guidelines set by Sessions will ask prosecutors to seek felony charges against criminal illegal aliens. Felony charges will also be brought against illegals with gang affiliations, and those who have assaulted border agents.
In typical fashion, anti-American Democrats are doing everything within their power to protect the illegal aliens who reliably turn up to vote blue on election day.
Rep. Raul M. Grijalva, the Democrat congressman representing Nogales, Arizona came out to object to the new policy era launched by Jeff Sessions. He expressed concerns that the crackdown will divert policing efforts and break up families.
The Democrat is very concerned about the families of illegal aliens, but he is not worried about the victims of their crimes. Crimes committed by illegal aliens have caused countless Americans to lose their lives, breaking up families in a more violent and permanent way than deportation ever could.
The decisive actions of President Trump are already having an huge effect on reducing the tide of illegal immigration. In March, almost 17,000 illegal aliens were caught trying to sneak into the country. This marks a 34 percent drop since February of this year, and a 64 percent drop since February 2016.
The drop in illegal immigration indicates that America is becoming less desirable for illegal immigrants, since they will no longer receive shelter from the government.
We still need to build a wall, as tens of thousands make the illegal trip into America each year, but we are finally starting to win the war against illegal immigration.
