Everyone around the country was shocked to learn that John McCain has brain cancer. For a politician for has served this country for so long, it really is sad to see. And as comes with the territory, the country then went to his family and sent them all the prayers and wishes they could muster up.
But John McCain was not feeling quite so generous. He took this time of suffering to throw unneeded jabs at President Donald Trump and his administration. It is no surprise, as John McCain has made it clear that he wants no part in the Trump administration. He has insulted the president so many times that it is becoming almost routine.
President Trump was quick to take to Twitter to send his best wishes to John McCain and his family. He sent out a beautiful statement that one would think would be taken kindly. This was not the case. McCain turned right around and stabbed Trump in the back.
He went on Face the Nation right before his diagnosis to talk about Trump’s plans in Syria.
“The administration has yet to articulate its vision for Syria beyond the defeat of ISIL, let alond a comprehensive approach to the Middle East. A key pillar of American strategy must be the removal of Assad from power as part of an end to the brutal conflict in Syria, which has fueled ISIL’s growth through its cruelty, extended malign Iranian influence, and undermined broader regional stability,” McCain explained.
“Six months into this administration, there is still no new strategy for victory in Afghanistan either. It is now mid-July when the administration promised to deliver that strategy to Congress, and we are still waiting,” he went on.
We need to come together to stop this hate against President Trump. McCain has every right to say whatever he wants about Trump but this is getting a little bit out of hand. As a Republican serving in Congress, he should have a little bit better way to communicate than through hate.
There is no reason for it and we need a change.
